Observation system of the ocean hemisphere network
This Ocean Hemisphere Network will clarify the movement of the mantle and core which are the driving force for various activities of the earth such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and geomagnetic changes.
1. Kinetic structure and fluctuation of the boundary layer formed by mantle convection will be detected by seismic observation.
2. Crustal movement caused by mantle convection will be detected by GPS measurements of ocean islands.
3. Thermal and electromagnetic structure formed by mantle convection and the fluctuation of core convection will be detected by ocean-bottom electromagnetic observation.
