-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON NEW IMAGES OF THE EARTH'S INTERIOR THROUGH LONG-TERM OCEAN-FLOOR OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Venue: Kazusa Akademia Center, Chiba Prefecture, Japan Time: November 6-8, 1997 =============== Second Circular =============== ************************************************** DEADLINES: Registration and Accommodation: September 10, 1997 Title of Abstract submission: September 10, 1997 Extended Abstract submission: October 10, 1997 ************************************************** CALL FOR PAPER: Papers are invited on any topic related to the geodynamics; especially those focused in the area of the western Pacific where OHP network will be deployed are welcome. The theme of the symposium is tentatively "Mantle Heterogeneities: Their Source, Fate, and Role in Mantle Dynamics; Keywords: Oceanic Plate, Slab, Transition Zone, Lower Mantle, Plume". We hope to bring people from different disciplines (seismology, mantle convection, geophysics, mineralogy, geology, geochemistry) together as much as possible. If you have questions, please contact either Hitoshi Kawakatsu (hitosi@eri.u-tokyo.ac.jp) or Kiyoshi Suyehiro (suyehiro@ori.u-tokyo.ac.jp). The meeting will be organized such that invited oral papers of about 30 minutes duration will be presented in each session and contributed papers will be presented either as oral or as posters.
